Cardiovascular Didactic Tool for Students
AbstractVirtual technologies can improve the learning process of cardiac system functions. The object of this study is the development of a Cardiovascular Didactic Tool (CDT) that allows the implementation of learning activities; together with dynamic viewing of information seen in cardiovascular system pathologies. Construct 2 graphics engine software framework was used for the development of this tool.The following physiological variables were used as part of the design: Heart Rate, Systolic Volume, Cardiac Output, Peripheral Resistance, Blood Pressure, Contractility and Preload. Heart failure was selected as the basic pathology, and other four pathologyes were selected as examples of representative causal agents: Myocardial Infarct, Arterial Hypertension, Cardiac Insufficiency and Aortic Valve Stenosis. The Adaptive processes and design within time were described.Within the pedagogical activity proposed, there is an introductory instructional class, addressed to undergraduate students of the Biomedical Engineering career, who evaluate the CDT based on its didactic quality. The students answered a questionnaire about the usability and functionality of the teaching tool.The results show that this didactic tool complements and improves the learning and comprehension of the intervening factors and variables that determine heart failure.
