Electrogoniometer design with data visualization through LabView

Abstract

This article describes the design of an Electrogoniometer for qualitative and quantitative assessment of the flexion-extension movement of the elbow joint in order to help therapists in the processes of diagnosis and rehabilitation of people who have movement restrictions related to this joint because of an injury. The sensor, which can be used for measuring angular movement, was a linear potentiometer 10K. Also, the GUI may be generated by LabView software. Finally, the theoretical validation of the operation of the device is performed. Then, it was verified that the therapist may perform a measurement and other qualitative and quantitative diagnosis of motion and kinematics of the elbow joint, which can improve the process of physical rehabilitation.
