Deposición de películas biocompatibles en carbón activado destinado a hemoperfusión
AbstractIn this work a methodology for obtaining biocompatible layers of cellulose acetate for biological coating of porous solids, required in the process of detoxification of blood, is presented. The porous solid used is activated carbon hemoperfusion degree, microporous, granular, with high surface area which gives a high capacity for adsorption of toxic compounds in blood. Cellulose acetate as precursor, the phase inversion process and the immersion precipitation technique were selected for obtaining membranes. Different formulations were tested using acetic acid as solvent, polyethylene glycol as modifier additive and water as no solvent. The polymer films were characterized by scanning electron microscopy. Different cycles of impregnation were assayed to obtain a biocompatible layer thickness within a range of 9 to 37 ?m. Parameters that control the preparation of cellulose acetate membranes with the required physical properties and adequate adhesion to the solid adsorbent, were defined.
